NDC and John Mahama’s running mate Professor Naana Jane Opoku has on Wednesday 4th November, 2020, paid a courtesy call on the King and overlord of Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Tutumba Bore Esa (I).
The visit forms part of her two day tour of the Savannah region.
At the palace, she sought for the King’s blessings and prayers towards the big battle ahead. The victory for the NDC is a victory for development, jobs, education, health, peace, agriculture improvement, women and youth empowerment, she said.
The Yagbonwura, Tutumba Bore Esa I commended and asked her to keep running issues based campaign devoid of insults and also, keep preaching the message of peace for without peace, there can never be any meaningful development in the country.
Professor Naana Jane later addressed party faithfuls at the Damongo lorry park.
Professor Naana Jane said this year’s elections is all about the showing of good track records by the various political parties. She explained that the NDC led administration provided jobs for Ghanaians, built Universities, SHS, markets, hospitals, roads, women and youth empowerment and improve the general infrastructure level of the country.
A vote for NDC and John Mahama is a vote for better jobs, schools, hospitals, markets, Universities, roads, women empowerment, youth development, peace among others.
Professor Naana Jane appealed to them to remain peaceful and keep explaining the party’s manifesto policies to the people. Peace is paramount, without peace there won’t be development. She assured that the NDC is poised for victory and will unite the nation once again.
Today families are fighting families, friends are fighting friends all because of the ways and levels this country is being managed, she added.
Professor Jane appealed to the teaming party faithfuls to vote massively for John Mahama and all Parliamentary candidates. She warned against any ” skirt and blouse vote” saying the president needs majority MPs in the chamber to fast track development.
The former Vice Chancellor of UCC earlier visited and mourned with the chiefs and people of Laribanga on the demised of the Chief Imam of the community few weeks ago.
Proff Nana Jane expressed gratitude to the people for their prayers for the nation and called on them to maintain the culture.
Nana Jane explained that she heard of the sad news of the passing of the late chief Imam and has decided to come to the area to commiserate with the family. She said ‘ it is God who gives, it is him who takes. Either of the two is for humanity. I have not come here to remind you of the pains the community went through after his demise but to empathize with the family and the Kamara clan.
She also visited the chiefs and people of the Busunu traditional area.
Professor also toured the Daboya/Mankarigu constituency and was enskinned the Kanyitiwurche (Queen of Patience) by the Wasipewura palace.
Chief Sofo Azorka, Alex segbefia, Alhaji Limuna Muniru, Alhaji Inusah(Savannah Regional Chairman) and the regional executives, Parliamentary candidates, constituency executives helped grace the tour.
